Aluminerie Alouette's primary aluminium production and service facility in Sept-?les, Quebec, Canada, has been certified to the ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V1 (2017), following a successful performance standard certification in July 2020.
The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) announced on October 19 that Aluminerie Alouette's aluminium smelter and foundry has successfully passed the ASI Chain of Custody Standard certification, producing 600,000 tonnes of primary aluminium a year, making it the largest aluminium smelter in the Americas.
The ASI Chain of Custody Standard (CoC) sets chain-of-custody requirements for the production and processing of aluminium materials through the aluminium value chain into various downstream industries. ASI's CoC Standard is implemented by linking the good practices of ASI Performance Standard certified entities with the products they produce in successive steps in the supply chain. The CoC standard also confirms that appropriate policies and due diligence processes are in place to identify and address critical issues such as corruption, human rights abuses, materials from conflict-affected and high-risk areas of the supply chain, and to support responsible sourcing.
The independent third-party certification of AluminerieAlouette was carried out by BNQ.
“We congratulate Aluminerie Alouette’s Sept-?les, Quebec, smelting plant for certification to the ASI Chain of Custody Standard CoC, demonstrating the overall collaborative spirit of ASI members to create negative Source:
