An $831.5 million alumina refinery construction project may be terminated if a valid agreement cannot be reached by October, the head of Indonesia's state-owned mining company MIND ID said on Tuesday. The project was signed in 2020 and was originally planned to be completed in 2022. However, according to the deadline given by the partner, the construction may not be completed until 2024. At the same time, the partner is seeking to further postpone the deadline to 2025. At present, the request has been approved. MIND ID rejected.
The planned alumina refinery is part of Borneo Alumina Indonesia, which is jointly owned by MIND ID mining companies Antam and Inalum, and is located in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, Borneo Island.
Darwin Saleh, director of Borneo Alumina, told the hearing: “The project has been delayed for 16 months so far, with an estimated potential loss of revenue of US$450 million.” Source:
